    • This trip operates very much the same as the trip south but here we are venturing north. Over the Golden Gate Bridge we go into the wilds of the Marin Headlands. We'll stop at some of the many military lookouts that pepper the entire coastline since WW2 when they were built to defend the Bay from a Japanese invasion that never came. We can go to a volcanic Black Sand beach and enjoy the sand, surf and waterfalls that flow into the ocean. Not far from here is the Point Bonito Lighthouse, if open you'll walk through a tunnel drilled through rock and then walk on an elevated foot bridge hundreds of feet above the crashing surf to reach the lighthouse. Shy harbor seals congregate below the trail and are easily spotted.

    • Speaking of seals, we can stop at the Marine Mammal Center, the biggest facility of it's kind in the world, they rescue sick or wounded marine mammals and set them free again after rehabilitation. Commonly at the center are sea lions, elephant seals, harbor seals and otters. There is an observaton area, and docents on hand to answer any questions.

Unwind and soak up the stunning scenery as we journey north into Napa and Sonoma Valley, two of the most prized wine regions of Northern California. During your venture, enjoy wine tasting and exclusive estate tours of three of our favored wineries: Madonna Estate, Cline Cellars, and Sebastiani Vineyards.

Since 1922 the Bartolucci Family has consistently created a perfect marriage of grapes and wine at Madonna Estate. Located in the world-renowned Carneros region, an area known for its fertile lands and cool climate, the Bartolucci family has found success with their organically grown grapes and Estate Bottled wines. In addition to practicing natural farming methods, they also combine traditional and modern winemaking techniques. As the third oldest winemaking family in the Napa Valley, it is important to them that they continue the commitment to farm naturally and preserve the winemaking traditions of past generations.

In the latter part of the 1800s, Oakley, Contra Costa County was a booming farming community with thousands of acres of orchards and healthy vineyards. Fred Cline's maternal grandfather, Valeriano Jacuzzi of pump and spa fame, called this place home. On summer visits to his grandparents, Fred learned both the love of agricultural life and the mysteries of vinifying grapes into wine. These lessons led Fred to obtain a degree in Agriculture Management from U.C. Davis. In 1982, with an inheritance from his grandfather, Fred founded Cline Cellars near Oakley, California. Here, he preserved and restored many ancient vine sites to their rightful reign as premier California wine lands.

With over a century of wine- making experience in Sonoma, Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery focuses on crafting small lots of super-premium wines from Sonoma County. Today, Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery advances its record of acclaim under the guidance of vintner and entrepreneur Bill Foley, who acquired the winery in 2008. As part of Foley Family Wines, Sebastiani will maintain its commitment to producing singular wines from the appellations of Sonoma County.
